If you identify as older and identify as a woman, Grace invites you to spend time with us from 7 Feb to 2 March at Guest Projects (1 Andrews Road E8 4QL) as we explore the experience of middle age, investigating the signs and signifers, acting as art sleuths, and getting to the bottom of how we are perceived and perceive ourselves.
We plan to mix the absurd with the serious, employing humour and bloody mindedness in equal measure.
We will meet three days a week from noon to 6pm for workshops, talks, screenings and performance. Each week has a theme from make-up to drag to how we dress. Our final week, we will devise and perform pieces for a final cabaret open to the public.
Each day we will have cooked for us or sometimes prepare our hearty lunch (which will be provided) and have a full on tea break in the afternoon.
Our work will be documented and form the content for a follow-on publication—all participants will be acknowledged/included in the publication and receive copies.
We ask for a commitment to attend at least one of the themed weeks and the final week (including the public performance on 2 March).
Places are limited. Your best chance of being selected is to indicate that you are flexible and available for all sessions.
We are striving for a diverse group of participants and encourage people from the deaf and disability communities (the space is wheel chair accessible); LGBTQI women; BAME women; regardless of immigration status.
There is no application fee. If you are unable to make an online application and/or need assistance please contact us ay 07889558746.
Applications will be accepted right up to 1 Jan 2018 and selected participants will be notified early in 2018.
Our project is supported using public funding by Lottery funded Arts Council England.
